Maine licenses trades through the Office of Professional & Financial Regulation. HVAC is unusual — Maine's mechanical licensing is structured around Oil Burner and Solid Fuel Technicians (Journeyman and Master tiers), reflecting the prevalence of heating oil in the state.
If you work with oil-fired heating equipment in Maine, the Oil Burner Technician license is required regardless of any general HVAC training you may have. Many out-of-state HVAC contractors are surprised that Maine doesn't have a generic HVAC contractor license analogous to most other states.
TradesIQ tracks Maine license renewals, CE hours, bonds, and insurance certificates in one dashboard — with automated reminders before anything lapses.
