North Carolina handles HVAC and plumbing under one board (NC State Board of Examiners of Plumbing, Heating & Fire Sprinkler Contractors) and electrical under a separate board (NC State Board of Examiners of Electrical Contractors). All three trades run on annual renewals.
North Carolina and South Carolina have a Technical Exam Waiver Agreement for HVAC and plumbing — contractors licensed in either state can skip the trade exam in the other. You still need to pass the receiving state's business and law exam. This is one of the most useful regional reciprocity arrangements in the Southeast.
TradesIQ tracks North Carolina license renewals, CE hours, bonds, and insurance certificates in one dashboard — with automated reminders before anything lapses.
