Kentucky consolidates all three trades under the Department of Housing, Buildings & Construction. Licenses renew annually, with continuing education required for each trade. Kentucky offers HVAC reciprocity with Ohio — Ohio Master HVAC contractors can get the Kentucky trade exam waived.
Kentucky's annual renewal cycle is more frequent than most states (which lean biennial or every 3 years). Pair that with required CE every year, and Kentucky contractors need to stay on top of compliance more aggressively than peers in longer-cycle states.
TradesIQ tracks Kentucky license renewals, CE hours, bonds, and insurance certificates in one dashboard — with automated reminders before anything lapses.
