Washington has one of the most complex HVAC licensing structures in the country. Mechanical contractors must register with the Department of Labor & Industries (L&I) and hold an electrical specialty certification (06A or 06B) because HVAC work touches electrical systems. EPA 608 is also required for refrigerant handling.
Three separate credentials for HVAC: L&I contractor registration ($15K bond), 06A (4,000 hours) or 06B (2,000 hours) electrical specialty, and federal EPA 608. Plumbing and electrical contractors have simpler — though still demanding — paths through L&I.
TradesIQ tracks Washington license renewals, CE hours, bonds, and insurance certificates in one dashboard — with automated reminders before anything lapses.
